Before I started the challenge I weighed 114 pounds and skipped meals frequently. As a result I was always tired and cold, most likely because I became anemic due to my unhealthy life style. My goals for the challenge were to gain healthy weight (123 pounds), tone my entire body, and add discipline to my life.
For 2.5 years I was an extremely active animal trainer at a well known zoo. I trained and performed with 144 different animals including kangaroos, lemurs, lynx, binturong, 2 different porcupine species, bush babies, and many many more! Running with a kangaroo or jumping rope with a dog is not as easy as we make it look! In addition, lifting an 80 pound capybara or vigorously scrubbing all angles of animal houses made work basically an all day workout. After 2.5 years at my dream job, I had to leave to be a stay a home mom. This made more sense financially and is better for my 3.5 year old daughter and 1.5 year old son.
Leaving my job was a huge change for me. It was something I never expected to do. For the first couple months I became depressed and too stressed out from the constant craziness of two toddlers. The hardest part was (and still is) that I just never got a break. After my husband came home from work he was tired too and just wanted to relax, so I continued to care for the kids. Then I cooked dinner and got the kids ready for bed, read stories and tucked them in. I found that after the kids were in bed was the only time I had to relax, think, watch something other than Dora, and just take a breath. So I would stay up all night just enjoying my time to myself. Then I would be tired the following day and more stressed. But I couldn't break this cycle! My days were unorganized and stressful; I had no discipline.
I was hoping that this challenge would not only help my health issues but create discipline in my life.
My first step in the challenge was creating a schedule making sure I ate 3 meals a day plus 2 healthy snacks, and got in at least 30 minute workout. This new schedule also included going to bed by midnight and waking up by 8:00 am.
Because I am a stay at home mom, I can't go to a gym, I had to work out at home. This was extremely difficult! I found a couple different workout videos that I actually enjoyed. At first it is cute when your kids are working out with you, but then there are only so many times you can accidentally knock them over or stop your workout to break up fights or take something inappropriate out of their hands and mouth. I squeezed in a 30-60 minute workout (6 days a week for the first 4 weeks and the second 4 weeks I averaged 3-6 days working out) during nap time or after bedtime. Unfortunately the first video I used was not very good at toning my muscles, but it did offer a good cardio workout and burn a lot of calories. After giving that video a chance for 4 weeks I switched to a different video which was a lot harder and more effective.
For the first 4 weeks I used SuperGreens. These were great! I mixed them in with a healthy smoothie for breakfast or juice for a snack and I didn't feel as run down all day. I use SuperGreens daily.
I found because my life is so crazy, I was still skipping meals. This had a negative affect on my goal of gaining healthy weight because I was working out more but eating the same or less! As a result I had more energy but was always hungry and getting thinner!
My second 4 weeks I added chocolate MRP to help when I was in a rush. This helped me to get much needed protein but also it actually did fill me up! Unlike those other MRPs I had tried before where I drank a shake but then was still hungry and ended up snacking anyway; the YOR Health MRP filled me up and made sure I was putting on the healthy weight I needed.
Using the SuperGreens and the MRP daily helped me stay energized, gain healthy weight, and worked with my busy schedule! These products really helped me stay on track to reach my goals!
After the challenge I currently weigh 121.4 pounds. I was able to add structure and discipline in my life using SuperGreens and MRPs enabling me to gain the healthy weight I needed and continue to tone my muscles. After just 2 months I accomplished a lot but most of all YOR Health gave me the tools to continue my progress even after the challenge is over.
