I ran my first marathon 4 days ago!
My first challenge was completed months ago and it inspired me to run my first half marathon But post challenge I actually gained weight. This was a result of keeping my training appetite but no longer running 3-10 mile runs throughout the week. I was ashamed to admit after the challenge I was going backwards, so I just kept putting off re-entering the challenge for the rest of spring AND summer!
As summer came to an end I was fed up & decided I am going to start a series of back to back challenges to take my fitness to a new level. This is my first of these series and it needed to start with a bang. I decided I was going to run a marathon and training would begin day 1 of my 8wk challenge. I had not been training prior so it was tough physically and mentally.
Repair ultra and super greens became my best friends! We were acquainted at least 2x daily. Drank MRP 2x daily, in the morning after my training I would make MRP + fiber with variations of chia seeds, oatmeal, peanut butter, almond butter to recover from my long training runs. Complete Burn 3x/day, Vitamin 2x/day.
Training-wise I did running variations Mon, Wed, Thurs, Sat, with Sat being my long run days. The off days I would lift to make sure I didn't burn all my muscle like I did in my first challenge during half marathon training. Some lighter run days I would cross train as well.
My life has become much more fitness centered and I now have the habits of meal prepping Sun nights & truly enjoying my workouts.
My goal was to go from 185 to 178 & I finished at 177.4 lbs! I also wanted to drop 4% body fat and almost went down 5% body fat, going from 29.7% to 25.4%.
This is just the start to my journey and I plan on re-entering immediately to make this not just an 8wk challenge, but a life challenge to continue improving and see what heights the body and mind can take me!
