Hi my name is Ghany Alexander; I am 31 years old and from Brooklyn, New York. New York is the home of all great food and desserts; it is not an easy place to live without enjoying the city and what the city offers without being indulged in all it has to offer. I currently just graduated from CUNY School of Professional Studies with a business degree. I have been fighting with obtaining this degree for years because of the internal demons that keep me from continuously being successful. I work for the New York City Department of Education as an educational assistant and in hopes of being a physical education teacher next year; I am also a basketball coach for the school I work in as well as New Heights AAU basketball program.
Completing the YOR Best Body challenge has been an eye opening situation for me to say the least. I have been fighting with losing weight for almost 13 years now and it has been an uphill battle the whole time. The fight that I encounter on a daily basis has left me to dislike who I see in the mirror on daily basis and discourages me from looking in anything that would show me a reflection of myself. I was a high school sports star in the making when it came to track and field as well as basketball. I was breaking out of my shell of shyness from junior high school and the shadows of all the athletic stars that I grew up with. Going to a new high school I was excited to work hard and attain all type of success possible; at one track meet I encountered a terrible injury which caused my high school athletic career to come to a halt and caused drastic weight gain. Through the weight gain my parents as well as some of my family made comments that drastically damaged my self esteem and self confidence. I struggle with that to this day. Coaching basketball has caused me to live through all the kids I deal with vicariously; while doing that I realized that there is no way that I could be encouraging children to stay in shape, eat healthy and obtain a college education when I can’t be an example of what they should be. At that point I understood that I needed to change and buckle down and be the person I wanted people to remember me by.
I met Marshall through social network and I asked a thousand and one questions and at times I know I was annoying but I was in need of change. I tried calorie counting, I tried shakes of other brands which would be considered meal replacements and I have been able to trim some weight of myself and although I am still unable to see the change many of my friends have been able to identify the consistent change that I have had. So the time has come and I decided to try the slim set with Marshall Cook; he told me exactly how I could be successful with the slim set and the support that he has and continues to give me is unexplainable. Marshall recommended that I use the slim set along with the complete burn; I used the YOR MRP shake which I started out taking it for breakfast then moved to lunch and eventually ended the challenge taking the MRP for dinner. The shake was very well satisfying as I enjoyed the vanilla more than the chocolate because I was able to mix in the Berry blast for more flavor and extra energy boost. The probiotics as well as the digest ultra was the other products that assisted in my challenge.
At the midway point I was in a car accident and had a mild set back and was unable to go to the gym for two weeks but I was able to stay on track with my shakes and other products. Prior to the accident i was in the gym at least 4 days a week; some days would be strength training and the others would be cardio. Towards the end of the challenge i did 4 days of cardio. The impact that this has had on my life is life changing and i believe i am becoming a more balanced individual. I am more than ready to complete another challenge but I would like to try sculpting just to push myself because of the progressive results even if this would be a harder challenge to complete; I am built to win and built for hard tasks at hand.
