Being overweight has always been a struggle that I battled with. I remember being at my heaviest weight, 265 pounds. The idea of loosing weight was something I could not get myself to entertain. I was miserable, defeated and I was the only person that could do something about it, so I thought. But in reality the overwhelmingly heroic drive to move toward action did not stem from within. As much as I would love that to have been my story, it was much simpler than that, I was moved to action by these words from a little Haitian girl, “ou tro patat pou antre nan kay mwen, w’ap kraze’l.” which translates to, “you’re too fat to come into my house, you’ll break it!”
After the earthquake in Haiti, my cousin and I were moved by the devastation in our homeland that we decided to go and help out. I can remember being so emotional and distraught but at the same time hopeful that our presence would make a difference. What stands out the most in my memory however; is being identified as the “fat” guy. I could not bring myself to accepting this title and therefore my identity. It was not me. I could not be remembered as the “fat” guy. So, I went home to the United States with a new found resolve to loose weight and get fit. After loosing 50 pounds through working out consistently and changing my diet I was stuck and could not loose any more weight. Most importantly, I did not understand the importance of proper nutrition and healthy weight loss. Even though I lost the 50 pounds, I was not healthier for it. I lacked proper nutrition, developed a vitamin D deficiency and learned that I became allergic to all seafood known to man.
When I was introduced to Yorhealth, it became more evident how much I needed the products and the support that came in being part of the challenge. For me the support system was the most important part because I had people who were determined to helping me to make that lifestyle change. With Yorhealth, I have dropped 10 pounds of fat; have become stronger, and more aware of the proper steps to becoming healthy. Using the super greens and meal replacements made my life so much easier because they were readily available without trying to figure it out.in addition, the complete burn and berry blast provided me with the energy needed throughout the day and weight training which I did 5 days a week. I now feel confident that I have a clear road map in helping other people reach their best body.
