FINALLY….At long last, I have actually completed an 8 week challenge. I must have joined 4 or 5 times but never completed a challenge cycle because I would join, not take my products, eat like a pig, hit the gym once or twice and then give up.
The hardest thing for me aside from my addiction to pastries, candy and sugary snacks was my inability to stick to the plan and see things through to the end. Whenever I would start a challenge or decide to improve my health even before being introduced to Yor Health, one of 2 things would happen...
I would either; A. Get on my game and be going strong for a short period of time, eventually slip up and either miss a day or 2 at the gym or eat something bad, and once that happens I would give up all together due to feeling that I have now failed and theres no point in going on.
OR B. I would start strong but then end up talking myself out of my pursuit by thinking things like "Is this really going to work? How long is this going to take? Is this really worth it? This is too hard. I'm tired. Am I even doing this right? Am I wasting my time? Maybe I should learn more about nutrition/working out/meal plans/proper technique/etc first. Maybe I should wait until…" Just all these different funny thoughts in my head that I would feed into and ultimately quit.
But this time things were different. I loaded up on products so I couldn't run out and fall off track and joined the challenge with my friend. Now that I had a challenge buddy to hold me accountable, quitting was not an option.
I used almost the entire product line daily. MRP of course, super greens, fiber plus and i got my probiotic, digest, repair and vitamins in my daily packs. I only used complete burn and muscle energy on the days i was really tired.
Having an excess of products definitely helped me feel far more confident in staying consistent on my regimen and helped to keep me aware and on track with my diet.
The real difference maker was having my challenge buddy. There were many, MANY times within the challenge that I wanted to take the day off and not go to the gym or eat something that i shouldn't(and of course those things did happen here and there) but my challenge buddy would literally come to my house and beat me with a pillow until i got out of bed and went to the gym with him. He would make me feel really bad about eating sweets or unhealthy food and remind me why we were doing it in the first place and give me the fear of loss of losing the challenge, or worse, being unfit forever! D:
A couple times i tried to eat something unhealthy in front of him and he actually snacthed it out of my hand and threw it on the floor. I was mad when he threw my crappy food on the floor and when he ruined my amazingly comfortable sleep with a one sided pillow fight, but at the end of the day, there wasn't a single work out that i regretted, and to my surprise, i still managed to survive without the junk food.
Over time, these things started to become habits, healthy eating(at least relatively) and gym 5-6 times a week(even if they weren't the most intense workouts). After a while, it got easier. It never actually got easier in reality, but it was soooooo much more simple in my head. I started developing discipline. It got to the point where it didn't matter how i felt, how tired i was, what excuse i had or whatever i could come up with. Regardless of anything, we were going to the gym, like it or not. We could cry and complain but we were still going and we were still going to kill the workout.
Eventually, we would be excited to go to the gym everyday, we became so proud of our consistency and discipline even more then the results we were getting!! Soon, even our bad work out days were still super intense and effective. We had taken things to a new level.
More then anything, what I got out of this 8 week challenge was self confidence, especially in my ability to see things through from start to finish, discipline, and a new outlook on facing challenges and taking on difficult tasks. Ive learned to keep moving forward by acknowledging the reality that whether you like it, believe it, or feel like doing it or not, as long as you execute specific action towards a goal, progress is inevitable.
Of course I'm super excited and happy with my physical results! I love the energy i have now and the changes I've made in my body. And I really love how much more i can lift, run and how much harder i can go at the gym. Its made daily life so much easier, sex life even better, and has given me more energy so that even after a long day of work i still have energy to do the things i love to do. But the best part is the new perspective i have. Because of developing this new outlook I'm sure all my future endeavors will move more smoothly. I plan to use this new found self reliance and willpower to really start promoting the 8 week challenge on a larger scale and help many more people reach their fitness goals while finding a better, stronger, happier version of themselves inside that they probably didn't know they had.
This is definitely the hardest I've worked on anything in a very long time and now its time to step it up again! Im going to join a new challenge cycle immediately and REALLY get some results this time!
Thank you Yor Health for the opportunity and incredible product line, my challenge buddy Thomas for keeping me on track, and all of the 8 week challenge competitors for the support and inspiration!
