Hey guys!
Wow, well ill start by saying my recovery time after surgery was amazingly quick compared to when I had the same proceedure on my left arm. I altered my diet to a pretty much paleo diet. And obviously taking my yorhealth supps everyday too. I was taking the full range of products available in Australia and noticed my overall health improve in about 6 days. It was hard being on bed rest after surgery but I made the most of my time by really looking into nutrition from both the media available through yorhealth and other sites and books too.
About 6 days after my surgery I signed up the the gym down the road because I couldn't drive due to my arm. The PT at the gym thought I was crazy for singing up with a big purple arm and I guess I was. I got some odd looks doing squats with my arm in a sling but taking baby steps and being smart about my training and nutrition was a great way to break the rut. There was still a lot I couldn't do, I couldn't run due to the arm movements required but I did all I could. 1 arm kettle bell swings, 2 kg bicep curls ( on my bad side ) and squats were my baby steps in the gym but I wasn't letting any excuses hold me back. I was waking up so refreshed and feeling great due to yorhealth and cutting out certain foods. I've no doubt the benefits of both. Eventually I was able to run short distances, cycle and some very slow swimming. I was excersising about 3-5 days a week.
Haha I had physical testing on no day the 10th if feb and got a PB in the beep test ( 12.2) which is amazing considering I couldn't run for a long time due to surgery on both arms. My breaky was greens, fibre, berry blast, 2 x eggs and some nuts every morning. MRP with raw veggies at lunch and usually greens and fibre as an afternoon snack with dinner a simple fresh cucumber salad and meat of some sort. Taking the repair and probiotics as recommended and the ultra digest before my main meals every day.
The guys at work were really impressed with my recovery and have also started the products. As I feel much more energized - no need for redbulls , coffees etc to survive that day. Eating right is so much easier once you feel better and UNDERSTAND more about the importance of nutrition.
Although I wasn't Able to do as much strength training as I'm sure others could I think I did a great job of working around my injuries and feel and look great and physically having the energy to cycle 30km a day and train on top of that has never been Achievable to me before. I know I've inspired people to think more about their nutrition and quality supplementation.
One of the greatest things iv learnt in my life has been the joy of giving health to others, as I've qualified for yorhealth free with free I gave products to my mum who has been obese for 30 years and the feeling of her telling me how much healthier she is feeling is do rewarding. And as a child being able to help my parents is always rewarding.
The challenge it's self for me hasn't been my motivation to train, I believe as someone that is promoting health shouldn't only train or be healthy to win a challenge but to set and measure goals already set. In my mind I'm not competing for free products but competing against my self and learning more about health in the general sense of the word. I believe too many people focus on aesthetics when it comes to training however for me it was about getting my functional fitness back and being able to recovery successfully from my surgery and learn how to help others.
My New Years resolution was to be happier, healthier and more helpful and yorhealth has helped me with that everyday. Iv never felt better about my health and the direction my life is going in. For me - the must important thing someone can have is health. A healthy self and a healthy community.
