Starting the challenge at 102.5kg (225lbs) the first week in January while still on holiday was a great time as my goals for 2014 were still fresh in my mind.
My confidence has always been very low because of some very low self-esteem and a distorted body image. I started the challenge with the end goal of being proud enough of myself and the changes I accomplished to put up an after photo for everyone to see. This was a big call for someone who even struggles taking his shirt off at the beach.
I was training 3-4 times a week in the beginning which was the same I have been doing for the past 2 years, which you wouldn't say from the photos, but unfortunately bad diet, nutrition and supplementation meant that I wasn't getting what I needed from my food.
A change of my diet, eating much more cleaner, greener and training meaner, meant in the first 2-3 weeks I had already lost 3kg.
I kept up with the routine of the vitamin with 3 meals in the day, digest with my 2 biggest meals, repair and probiotics every night before bed and greens after every training session.
After about 6 weeks I was having those feelings of, 'will I ever reach my goal' and all I had to do was look back at where I started and where I was right now. Yes I still have a journey ahead of me to reach my ultimate goal, but this challenge has given me the best head-start I could ask for as in the past 8 weeks I have undergone the change that I think would have taken me years otherwise.
Apart from the visual changes I have experienced, both my confidence and overall well-being has improved. I'm sleeping better, have more energy and feel happier within myself.
My final weigh in was a surprise to both myself and my trainer, I came in at 94.3kg (207lbs) which was an overall loss of 8.2kg (18lbs) over the course of the 8 weeks.
I'm looking forward to the journey ahead now and am excited to be waking up each day now rather than just thinking, "what if" I know have the mindset of "Why not!"
