I’ve just finished my first ever YOR Best Body Challenge. It’s been an incredible journey. Never would I have thought I’d achieve what I did during this past 8 weeks. Health and fitness had never really been a priority to me because I have been lucky to have a petite body and I thought that’s what mattered. How wrong was I! My starting weight was 54.2kg and finished at 49.7kg. A little over my goal of 48kg but couldn’t be prouder of my results. My body fat percentage at the start of the challenge was 15.7%, I completed this challenge at 13.4%. I’m ecstatic. I can’t wipe the smile off my face.
A high school friend and her husband introduced me to the Yor Health products, I was keen on finding out more so started using the products and entered the challenge at the same time. Without their knowledge, enthusiasm and always updating their social media page in a positive light, I would never have rebooted my body and have the love of the gym as I do now. It took me a while to weigh up the benefits of using Yor Health as opposed to all the other nutritional supplements on the market today. I started this challenge to test myself, to learn about how my body works and what i’m fueling my body with. I’ve never really watched what I ate, the numbers what I thought were on the scales were the only factor to being healthy.
During the past 8 weeks, I went to the gym no less than 5 days a week, one session a day and that included 2-3 sauna sessions a week after my workouts. I’m a bit addicted now, fabulous outlet away from day-to-day life. Each day I worked different areas of my body (legs, arms, core, chest and back). I didn’t do a lot of cardio, 10-15 minutes maximum, mostly to warm up on either cross trainer, bike, or rower. My main goal for the challenge was to add lean muscle mass rather than lose weight. I did a couple of Tabata classes to kick start an exercise routine, a tough but fun workout. I used a PT twice a week as I’m also training for a two day 200km bike ride in October. Through the challenge I found I recovered really quickly from a workout if I did separate endurance training and strength training days. My body worked harder with endurance and strength exercises during a session.
I really enjoyed using the YOR products. I have never used supplements before, I thought I got what I needed from any food I put in my mouth. In early 2008 I was diagnosed with a Dysembryoplastic neuroepithelial tumour (DNET) causing partial epilepsy. I take 5 tablets a day to keep my epilepsy controlled. As with all medication, they carry side effects, a couple of side effects that I struggled with was sleepiness and weakness. I have defied both since using the YOR products. Before the challenge, I had great difficulty staying awake all day; my body wasn't keeping up with what I wanted to do. If anything, I feel more focused, more energised and more motivated. Using the YOR products hasn't affected the absorption of my medication at all.
Throughout the 8 weeks, my usual routine included waking up about 8am, taking one probiotic with an MRP mixed with a Berry Blast for breakfast. All my workouts were between 9-12pm, working around my daughters’ kinder schedule and utilising the crèche at the gym. After my workouts/ for snacks I’d have a super greens mixed in with another berry blast, I’d go for a banana, apple, yogurt, muesli, even a bowl of porridge afterwards. For lunch I’d have an MRP, sometimes with a slice of rye toast with avocado/cottage cheese, boiled egg, depends how hungry I was. I look at food in a whole different light now, I eat more now than ever before. I've always grazed during the day, heaps of snacks instead of main meals. I just think more about my selection of food before I eat now. Before each meal, I would take a digest ultra. Dinners consisted of mostly protein with a salad/small handful of vegetables as I love my meat and because I work out virtually every day. I’m not a big pasta/rice fan so I found it difficult to find healthy carbohydrates post workout that I wanted to eat. I mixed it with chicken, tuna, prawns etc. I still had one day a week which I would eat what I wanted, I would skip from having a Berry Blast and MRP. This way, I didn’t feel bored and could eat whenever and whatever, still setting a good example for my daughter. For hydration I switched between water and green tea and turned to plain black coffee instead of a white with two sugars half way through the challenge. Bonus! My challenge was over Easter and hardly got choccy craving, if I did, I’d make some protein balls with MRP, a hot (MRP) chocolate or bran and vanilla MRP protein pancakes with chopped strawberries and banana for a real treat. Yep, I love my bananas! At bed time, depending how I feel, I would take another probiotic with a banana, apple, porridge or a small tub of yogurt, the later in the day, and depending on my bedtime, anytime from 10-12pm, the hungrier I got. 8 weeks on and haven’t been sick or had a day sleep. That’s a real plus
I am a single mum to a 5 year old daughter. I’m in the best form ever and am absolutely ecstatic with my transformation. I say to everyone considering using Yor Health, just give it a go like myself. Get into a healthy eating routine and add some form of exercise to the mix everyday, whether it be gym like myself, abs classes, yoga, swimming. Yor Health is not a diet, for me it was a lifestyle change.
