Talking about my weight and health has never been easy, even when I was younger, when that shouldn't of even crossed my mind! As young as middle school I was so self conscious, and by high school I was trying every fad diet there was! My sister and I once even ordered pills from China! Came in all Chinese and couldn't read the instructions, side effects, anything! Still took them! As anyone could imagine, these silly things never worked! Once I entered my Junior year in high school my first traumatic experience happened, my mom suffered a Ruptured Brain Aneurism. At the age of 16, I was told dozens of times by doctors that I lost my mother or she would be a vegetable. Well after months of driving to the hospital and rehab centers to see my mom, we made it! It literally felt like my mom, sisters, step dad and I won, life was great. But then it wasn't, with trauma comes stress and anxiety, and for me that means a lot of food and weight gain! I continued my fad diets and nothing worked! The next year I experienced my second traumatic experience, my step dad, my best friend, within months died of Pancreatic Cancer. The stress and anxiety increased and so did my weight. I went into college weighing my heaviest. And the drinking and crappy food once I got there did not help! After awhile I made friends with the volleyball team and for the past few years I learned how to work out properly and eat healthy! However I still had awful stress and anxiety keeping me from staying on track. Sometimes my healthy journey would last months, sometimes weeks, days or even only hours! I realized a major problem for me was unfortunately needing someone to inspire me long enough for me to start inspiring myself! I found Ryan Parker and YORHealth! For the first time in a long time it feels like I can finally do it! I still have my off days and days I would love to eat an entire ice cream store, but I can now see those comfort foods as tasty but unhealthy and how that's not what's best for my body, not just an excuse. I constantly hear from people they could "never restrict themselves like I am" but the funny part of that is I eat more than anyone I know! I get to eat my favorite foods, including bread and yogurt and still loose weight! If that's what restricting myself looks like then that's fine with me! The 8 week challenge finally got my head on straight, and on a body I don't hate looking at! I feel healthy and happy and finally gaining confidence! I'm also reaching new personal records in the gym! I cant wait to continue this journey and see where it brings me!
