I don't know if you know what an Achilles Tendon is? Its the largest and strongest tendon in the body it attaches the calf muscles to the heel bone. Basically allowing your foot to move in all directions!
So when you tear it, it's a pretty major injury and the time for rehabilitation it takes 6 weeks in a cast, you can't walk properly without the level of flexibility for 9 months, you really don't have full use, when you use your leg from playing sports, for at least another year. But more importantly when you actually tear it! It's excruciating painful, really really really painful injury.
I'm a pretty positive person I tried to rehabilitate as quickly as I could. Then I re- tore my Achilles' tendon from my first Repair in the space of 10 weeks, but the second time round it was very very different! I lost sensation on the ball of my left foot, I couldn't believe this was happening again! Not only it cripples you physically!!! but it had set me back mentally. Going through the pain, I was an emotional mess going through this again I was protective of foot, I was an emotional roller coaster.
My confidence was low, my weight ballooned and I was always tired. I soon realized I couldn't do the things that I loved like play sports or even go for a walk through a park.
