Of all of the challenges I have participated in and completed, this has to be by far the most satisfying in results and achievement. I honestly never thought I'd be able to achieve the current stamina and strength that I have right now after going through recent health challenges and overall lack of physical activity.
Two and a half years ago, I experienced a setback like no other, suffering from a disc herniation in my lower back one day while playing basketball. The pain was so unbearable that I was having difficulty walking. I was experiencing sciatica, and pain was shooting from my bottom to my knees. I literally thought that my back would break at any moment if I moved incorrectly. Here I was in my mid 20s, thinking that life would never be the same again..I couldn't work out, I had to see the chiropractor multiple times per week, getting adjustments and having electronic pulse machines hooked up to to loosen my back muscles.
While my back has physically gotten better, mentally, I was limiting myself from any physical activity. I just couldn't risk injury again. I've tweaked my back a handful of times since the initial disc herniation, and the feeling of regression was devastating. But, I knew that I couldn't like my life as a 20-something thinking that my body was like that of a senior citizen.
Thankfully, many of my close friends are physically active, and they love working out together at the gym. That really motivated me that I could train to get into their physique as well. This time around, I really took my challenge as serious as I could. I was back up to the height of my weight at 165, and I knew I had a muffin top to lose. Being at an office desk job did not help my eating habits, which contributed to my recent weight gain.
I worked out on an average of 4 to 5 times per week, working on a different muscle group each day, rotating from chest, shoulders, back, and legs. At the beginning of my workouts, I made sure to warm up doing about 10-15 minutes of HIIT cardio on the treadmill, and ended my workouts with an ab session. Some days when I'm feeling more ambitious, I will run between 3-5 miles through my neighborhood to really get my cardio and sweat on...these runs are amazing!
As far as my dieting and product regimen goes. I take my first shake in the morning (2 scoops MRP, 1 scoop SuperGreens) along with 1 capsule of CompleteBurn. I will also take 2 SuperSlim capsules 30 minutes prior to eating. 3 hours later, my first lunch with 2 digestive enzymes will vary between a mixed greens salad with chicken breast or a turkey sandwich on whole wheat bread. 3 hours after lunch, I will take another shake with a CompleteBurn. As I'm leaving work, I will usually eat a piece of fruit such as a banana or a protein bar to keep my metabolism going. At night, after my gym workout, I will take a final shake prior to sleeping consisting of 2 scoops MRP, a tablespoon of natural peanut butter, almond milk, and a pinch of cinnamon powder to taste.
I've lost of a total of 14 lbs., my pants and clothes have gotten looser, and I have never felt better! I'm definitely in the best shape of my life, feel stronger, and totally have the confidence that in my next challenge, I will be ready to start sculpting myself up to get into the dream body I've always wanted.
