Everyone, no matter where we come from or who we are, always strive to be the best in something. We want to feel a strong sense of accomplishment and we want to prove to ourselves and our love ones we are capable of being more than just "okay." And for me, that's exactly what my struggle was for a very long time. Growing up, I've always been okay at everything...there wasn't really anything I couldn't do and at the same time, there was nothing I could be the best in. I remember as a tennis player in high school, everyday I would be the first to show up at the courts and the last to leave. And even when there was no practice, I was at the service line serving until sun down. I read books on how to become a better tennis player and I watched tennis matches on TV and paid close attention to Serena Williams. I was obsess with tennis and my friends thought I was crazy! But no matter how much I tried, I only won a single game my senior year of high school. Well, that experience left me feeling horrible, humiliated, and with a low self esteem. From that experience, I felt no matter how hard I try, I was never meant to be more than just "okay" in life. I accepted the fact that maybe that was just my faith and everything was meant to be that way forever.
About two months ago when I heard about the 8weekchallenge, I hesitated because my mind was already telling me I could participate but I wouldn't stand a chance of winning. Regardless, my friend pushed me to doing the challenge and I decided to give it my all.
Two months later and I realized the missing ingredient to my success all along was having a great mentor to guide me every step of the way and to see all the small things I couldn't see that would make a big difference. I wasn't doing this by myself and I had a lot of fun doing things I wouldn't imagine myself ever being able to do! For the first time ever in my life, I ran a mile within 7 minutes and 24 seconds!
In order to achieve my results, I used the entire product line on a daily basis. I also worked out every other day for 30-45 minutes with my friend, Nyia, who patiently motivated and encouraged me to push myself to the max.
From the challenge, I learned a very important lesson-everything in life takes discipline, hard work, and determination and a strong mindset...and that every successful person needs a great mentor. Thanks to the 8weekschallenge, today I feel powerful, great, and the best me I can ever be not just physically, but mentally, spiritually and emotionally! This is only the beginning... =) -Ka with a quiet bOOm.
