I was always taught to “clean” my plate and I am not talking about in the sink. Mama would say: “money doesn’t grow on trees”, so wasting food was not an option. That philosophy worked for me when I was young and while I was playing sports in high school, basketball in the United States Navy, and basketball while in college. However, after I graduated from college and I wasn’t running up and down a basketball court 4 to 5 hours a day, that “clean your plate” philosophy of eating wasn’t working. I often wonder if this is the reason my mom and step-dad are both diabetics. So when I started gaining weight I feared that I might become diabetic too!
I thought, "I got this." I'll just start working out again and I'll lose the weight. Unfortunately as the saying goes, I wasn't able to out run my fork! After a few years of failed attempts to lose weight I began to get discouraged and almost gave up. Then something happened that changed my entire world, my first son was born. I lost my grandfather at age 12 and it really had a huge impact on me, so I wanted to make sure I was around for my son. A few years later my second son was born. So for me it's real simple... get healthy and fit so I stay around for my wife and kids.
The 8 week challenge for me was a way to kick-off a lifestyle change. We committed to (2) 45 minute workout session per week, replacing at least 1 meal a day with MRP along with the use of the SuperGreens, Digestive Ultra with meals, probiotics, and bare essential oils to ease the aches and pains!...lol
So after only 8 weeks I lost a considerable amount of body fat, lost 8lbs, put on some lean muscle, and definitely look and feel better than I did before we started the challenge. I also have grown closer to my neighbors Manuel and Shendel who have become our workout / accountability partners and most of all TRUE friends! The 8 week challenge not only gave us better health, it also gave us joy by helping establishing a closer friendship!
