The YOR Best Body Challenge has literally changed my life. In the past 9 months, I have moved across to the other side of the country on my own, moved through a number of different jobs & sustained 3 major medical problems that affected me physically, mentally & emotionally. I found I was lost, unmotivated & found myself becoming more & more undisciplined in my training. The last 8 weeks though, have had a profound impact on my life because I have finally found stability, purpose & a quality of life that has allowed me to embrace & overcome any challenge put in front of me.
Since I was a teenager I have been a very active person, exercising 4-6 days a week, doing boot camps & eating fairly healthily, but I would wake up every morning lethargic & lacking the energy I needed. Over time I became reliant on energy drinks, PepsiMax & processed foods to make it through my busy days. I knew this was bad for my body but did not realise the true extent of the internal damage I was doing until I was rushed 2 hours to a country hospital with acute appendicitis resulting in an emergency appendectomy. It was when I was at home recovering that I remembered the YOR Health products sitting in the cupboard that I had ordered but forgotten about & decided I needed to take care of my body from the inside rather than just using exercise to look good on the outside.
Taking these products had the most amazing impact on my body – just 8 days after having major abdominal surgery I was running around playing social sport & I dropped 3kg of fat in just 3 weeks without altering my diet or adding exercise back into my routine. It was then that I had my own testimony of the power of the YOR Health products & decided to start my 8 week challenge & really push myself to rediscover myself & reclaim my life & the body I once had.
I started my 8 week challenge at 55.5kg which I know to most girls would seem tiny but being only 5’1”, I felt anything but tiny. I felt heavy, constantly bloated, my immune system was struggling & I was constantly getting sick. All my clothes were tight & I would wear loose tops or layers to hide my figure. I was unhappy with my body & unhappy in myself & I knew I needed to make some changes to stop the negative emotions swallowing me into a pit of self-pity & worthlessness.
The first 4 weeks of my challenge were exactly that – a challenge. During these weeks I focused purely on my diet & was only doing light exercise walking 2-3 times a week in the morning before work. My sole focus during those 4 weeks was to clean up my diet, cutting all processed carbohydrates, sugars & energy drinks from my diet & getting over my PepsiMax addiction. It was definitely a hard thing for me but I found that after 1 month of re-training my way of thinking about the harmful things I was putting into my body & also giving my body the proper nutrients it was actually craving through the YOR Health product range, I found that my desire for processed, sugary, chemical-filled things was significantly diminished.
It was only after I had taken control of my diet, that I joined a gym & switched my focus to exercise for the second half of my 8 week challenge. I started off slowly but found that because my body was receiving proper nutrition through my improved diet & supplementation, I had so much more energy & better recovery than ever before, which allowed me to increase my training during the last two weeks to twice a day, 5 days a week plus working a normal 40hour week.
When reflecting on my journey & seeing & feeling the difference in my mental, emotional & physical state, I could not be happier that those life-changing events leading up to this moment have occurred. While I have not lost a significant amount of weight, I know that my muscle-tone has increased & my body fat percentage has decreased & this makes me happier than any number on a set of scales. I am a better, stronger & happier person for completing round 1 & I’m excited to use the momentum I’ve built leading into my second challenge to further extend myself, push the boundaries & find my ‘best body’.
