Hello my name is Ka Vang and I am from Sacramento, CA.
I am proud to say this is the fourth challenge I've completed! This time, my goal wasn't necessarily to lose weight or gain weight but rather to be as physically fit as possible and develop healthy habits.
For me, it is normal to have friends tell me I am flat like an iron board. Or when I'm walking with a friend and they see someone with a small hip and big, round curvy butt, they would point to that person and tell me, "If you get a booty like that, you will be turning heads." So over the years, I’ve come to realize that what people say to me about my body would always be along the line of, “You look good, but if you change this about yourself, you would be so much more attractive.”
What people said to me made me feel incomplete and that I would never be good or beautiful enough. That in order for me to be beautiful, I needed to fit into today’s society’s perception of a sexy woman...someone with a tiny waist, BIG chest and BIG buttock.
The day I started my challenge, I told myself this is not for me to change my body to fit people's perception of what a beautiful, confident lady should look like. Rather, I will work hard on building healthy habits and being physically fit for my personal well being. Thus, I had to learn how develop good eating habits and commit to working out.
I used to work out late at night, causing me to stay up late and I would wake up the next day around 10-11AM feeling tired, exhausted and sluggish. In my challenge, I started waking up at 6:30 every morning and working out for an hour or so with 20-30 of cardio follow by light weight training. That gave me energy throughout the day, allowing me to be at my best! Next, I trained myself to eat 2-3 small meals a day and no later than 7:30PM. Usually when I eat out with friends I would stuff myself to the max. This time I only ate enough to feel full.
Other than that, every morning and night I have my Yor Shake. For every meal I ate, I would take two digestives right after. I also snack throughout the day on vegetables and raw nuts. I end my day with 12 oz of supergreen and fiber.
Through the challenge I became more confident than ever before about my body. Because I did my best to take care of my body, I learned the true meaning of self respect. When you love yourself so much and treat it so well, no one can say anything to make you feel or think less of yourself.
