In 2011, at 25 years old I was 70kg. I had a great job, great friends, I was completely satisfied with all that I had. Unfortunately, my world was about to be turned upside down.
The downward spiral began when my partner and I received news that her twin pregnancy was riddled with complications. The next 6 months of our lives we lived in and out of hospital, this of course lead to increased stress both physically and emotionally and bad eating habits that have lead to my poor health, excessive weight gain and digestive problems. Our children were now healthy but my body was not. I had gained roughly 15kg in this 6 month period.
Forward to 2016, I gained a further 20kg in three months when I was let go from my job. I had ballooned to a whopping 117kg, a total of 47kg in 5 years; worst of all, I did not have the energy or confidence to enjoy time spent with family or friends. I remember waking up one morning earlier this year thinking that I had not made myself a new years resolution, this made me think, 'Have I given up on life? Am I so depressed that I don't even dream or bother to make myself goals anymore?' this was truly rock bottom and I had never felt so alone. It was at this point I decided to take action!
I called the local gym and asked for help. Little did I know that this phone call was about to change my life.
