My name is Mai Kou and I am 26 years young. I currently work as a Support service coordinator for children with special needs. My job consist of 80% office work and 20% meeting with families. I am surrounded by people who consistently root for me on whatever I wish to pursue in. Though I am grateful for such great supporters, I didn’t realize that the only person who has not been my biggest cheer leader was myself.
I wanted to take on the challenge (YOR best body) in the hopes of building self confidence. I knew that in order for me to fully support others, I needed to be my #1 supporter.
I stand at 4ft 11 inches tall. Before this challenge I weigh a total of 152Ibs. I was obese. I was embarrassed. I felt ugly. I felt discouraged. I was lazy. I lacked motivation. I used excuses like, “I cannot work out because I do not have time.” I even settled with, “I’m fat anyways so eating more won’t change anything.” I became angry with myself and turned to keto. I tried portion my food. I did the egg diet. Also took on the apple cider diet. I tried fasting. I found myself giving up each time when I didn’t see results.
Because of the challenge I was able to lose a total of 20Ibs in 7 weeks and counting!

For motivation:
I created a facebook group chat to keep me on track with my meals and my exercise per day.
I pulled out my old dresses-size small-and hung it up on my refrigerator. It helps me stay focus and think twice about what food I can eat.
Taking my dogs out for walks and hikes has also helped. I do body workouts whenever I go to the dog park.
I have also limited my salt intake. An alternative to salt- I use sea salt and Himalayan salt.
Today I feel amazing- emotionally, mentally and physically! I have more energy and my body feels so much lighter. I finally have the confidence I strived for along with a summer ready body! Even though I have achieved so much in so little time, that does not mean I stop when the challenge ends. This is just the beginning and I am hopeful that I can do so much more! Just remember that your health starts with YOU!
